State how poor customer service can have an impact on the reputation an organisation?

Resolved Question

State how poor customer service can have an impact on the reputation an organisation?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Customer service is all about how people perceive your company based how you act towards them.

When you call a company on the phone, and someone answers, that person is expected to be
courteous
professional
knowledgable enough to direct your phone call to the right person the first time.
to be able to help you with your question

All of the things that this person does and says while they are talking to you is going to have a direct impact on how you perceive the whole company.

If the person was a jerk to you and not very helpful, then you are going to think that everyone else in the company is a jerk, and you wont want to do business with that company again.

Customer Service has everything to do with how you serve the customer

Customer service is what many companies reputation is built on.

  • Well for me I order from a well known company online and it took them over 4 months to deliver my goods. When I rang customer services I kept being passed from one department to the other and every time I had to re say my reference number and details. I have never used them again as there incapable of olving any complaint or problem. If a company has poor customer service that has no intention in trying to resolve the situation then I am not interested in purchasing or using there service. I want to know that there is a team in place willing to help. I don't pay cash up front and then sit back and hope I receive my goods. It shouldn't be a 50/50% chance that customer services will help me.
  • Customer service is the first impression customers get of a company. If a customer has a bad experience with customer service, that will reflect on the entire company. Most people will think that the entire company is bad (or good) based on how they are treated in customer service.
  • I ordered some stuff from an internet company a few years back. It took them a month to finally process my order after many phone calls and emails. They finally got it shipped and didn't give me a discount or anything. They said it was in stock and waiting to be shipped the first two weeks and then they said it was out of stock. Either way, after I got my stuff, I never even went back to their website. I don't do business with them at all and I tell others to stay clear of them as well.

BA sets seat charges... what utter nonsense!?

Resolved Question

BA sets seat charges... what utter nonsense!?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/82742…

I have just read that BA are introducing seat charges for their customers from 7th October. In short, this means that people travelling on a short haul flight will have to pay up to £10, and up to £60 for a long haul business class flight.

As a long time BA customer I feel that BA have let customers down. This is a completely non-sensical policy. Basically we have to ay a surcharge to choose to sit on a plane. I am so angry by this latest action from a struggling airline. Willie Walsh needs to be sacked. They are no better than Ryanair. What next, a charge for food on the plane. Is BA wanting to become a budget airline? I will be travelling on other airlies in future. Goodbye BA.

"What next, a charge for food on the plane. "

I thought you pay the extra for the food anyway.

Resolved Question

Does anyone know who this number belongs to?

I have an unknown number on my telephone bill, it's a premium rate number but I have no way of knowing who it belongs to unless I ring it up. This i do not want to do because my itemised bill tells me it costs £9.00 per seven minutes. It has been rang five separate times so I have a massive bill of nearly £50.00!! The number is 09061702924. I have tried to trace it over the net but have had no luck, I would like to have a vague idea before I tackle the culprit. Thanks for your help!

Call your phone carrier and ask them who it belongs to. They can tell you, and then you can report it as an unauthorized/fraudulent call, requesting credit for each of the charges.

Does anyone know how Amazon.co.uk can estimate delivery?

Resolved Question

Does anyone know how Amazon.co.uk can estimate delivery?

Hi All,

Does anyone know what javascript or something similar Amazon.co.uk uses to estimate delivery?

For example, it says ''Get this item next day if you order in the next 1 hour''. What that mechanism called?

Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

For Java code, ask in Computers ..

The business answer is, the Postal service (eg Parcel Force etc) guarantees Next Day delivery if you get the items to the Post Office / Depot / collection point by (typically) 3pm and pay extra (or 1st Class ...) ... Amazon will know how long it takes their staff to locate and pack the books and the last time each day (when packages are collected from their warehouse) that guarantees Next day delivery.

You are a new manager and your duty manager wants you to look after your former department but you need to ...?

Resolved Question

You are a new manager and your duty manager wants you to look after your former department but you need to ...?

You are a trainee manager and you have been asked by the duty manager to look after your old department for two weeks, whilst your old department manager is on holiday. You have also been asked by your human resources manager to ensure that you complete your development program for the trainee management scheme. You are very good friends with everyone in your department.
Question (1): What is the best course of action to take first?
Question (2): What is the worst course of action to take first?
Kindly chose from the options below:
a) agree to look after the department.
b) apologise to the duty manager; explain that you need to concentrate on your development.
c) do one week in your old department and one week on your development plan.
d) ask to swap with another department manager; work in their department for one week instead; work on your development plan for one week.

Thank you very much for your responds.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

You need to get the HR and duty managers together to discuss how the cover period will fit within your development or whether it will extend your development period... it could segue nicely and it isnt an either/or situation necessarily.

Not sure this is your decision to make, speak to them both together. You can't just decide to cover the position for some of the time and then do what you feel is good... doesnt work like that.

The worst course of action is to do something without consulting anyone else and to leave things hanging. The best course of action is to act responsibly and maturely to ensure the department is covered and that, hopefully, that effort can be reflected in your development.

  • None of the above.

I would ask for a meeting with the human resources manager and the duty manager.
In the meeting I would suggest that the human resources delay the development program for the two weeks while you help out the old department.
If this was a good run business this problem would not have occurred in the first place as there would have been communication between the managers.
It was the duty managers responsibility to check with your new human resources manager before taking you off the job to cover for someones holiday.
This will ensure that everyone is happy and that you come out smelling of roses.

Why have companies stopped promotions and pay rises?

Resolved Question

Why have companies stopped promotions and pay rises?

I know that it is down the credit crisis, but how does it actually help the company?
Surely people should only be promoted for the company benefit anyway.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

When the economy is in a slump, a company usually backs away from type of spending. Speculation from economists keep companies from making any moves because they could find themselves laying-off, downsizing, and even closing their doors. Promotions and pay "raises" come when production is high not low.

How do I draft a contract of employment for myself when I am a Director of my own company?

Resolved Question

How do I draft a contract of employment for myself when I am a Director of my own company?

My business partner and I are Executive Director's of our own Ltd company and we own approx. 80% of the company between us.
However, there are 2 other non exec. directors in the company who own the remaining 20% of the company.

Given that background, what would I have to do create a contract of employment for my business partner and me?
Would such an agreement require the signatures of the non executive directors and investors?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

You probably need a lawyer there.

Generally, the rule is that officers should not self-deal when they have a conflict of interest unless the deal is approved by a majority of board members without a conflict of interest, or if it is ratified by the majority of share's holders. The safest way to do that would just be to get the other two directors to approve it. Otherwise, you could force it by vote of your shares, but you would definitely need a lawyer in that contingency.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

In the UK, the "statutory sector" usually refers to that part of the workforce which is employed by organisations which exist by law, or provide services required by law. This includes the civil service, non-departmental public bodies (so-called "quangos"), and local councils and all the services they provide from electoral administration to social services. The NHS is also part of the statutory sector.

Anything that produces raw materials and crops would be classed as a Primary sector business. Agriculture, Farming and Mining all come under this sector.

Secondary is manufacturing, and Tertiary is services (like dentists, doctors etc).

Eg.

Farming of cattle for leather produce (Primary) ---> Manufacture of shoes (Secondary)

What is is with the Royal Mail employees?

Resolved Question

What is is with the Royal Mail employees?

These work dodgers go on strike at the drop of a hat and they've damaged the Royal Mail so badly over the years that they've permanently lost loads of business. No yet again they're balloting for another nationwide strike! Way to go peeps you're all gonna put yourselves out of a job soon!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I agree, their over-zealous millitancy will bring down a company already on its knees. The balance between the union and the corporation has swung too far, and the staff think they can keep holding cash strapped management to ransom, for over the odds wages.

The amount of post delivered to my house by UPS and DHL is growing year on year. Soon all the profitable areas will be taken from RM, and they will fold. People in rural areas will then have to pay a fortune to receive post.

Go back to work people!

  • I don't know what the admin staff are paid but I do know that the postmen themselves aren't particularly well paid for the job that they do. But striking isn't the answer as it just turns the public against them.
You can send a letter from one end of the country to the other for less than the cost of a small packet of sweets - so the service itself isn't expensive.
I've never quite understood why people take a job at a certain salary and then strike for more money. They are above the national minimum wage, although they aren't on a good wage, but it's a job and it pays the bills. With email and other electronic mailing systems readily available, the mail service isn't used as much as it used to be. And there ar thousands losing their jobs due to the economic climate. So is this a good time to strike? I doubt it!
  • Agree. Besides it is frustratingly annoying when they come to deliver parcels, they ring once and leave in rush...many times have been waiting for a delivery and the postman assuming no one was in during the day, simply left the card without even ringing the bell. Yesterday, they rang the bell and by the time I got to the door the driver had left, so as they have to go to the end of the road to make the U turn, I waited on the door waving at him, but he ignored me! I immediately called the local depot and no one answered...
  • I totally agree, and when they are in work their crap anyway damaged mail and slow delivery. Must be cushy to work for them.
  • That's what happens when employment unions take over companies - Royal Mail is the prime example

Your account is credited after you confirm shipment, but payments are scheduled to only occur once every two weeks.

Amazon pays sellers in two week settlement cycles. If you want to see when the next payment will occur, go to "My seller account" and "View your payment account." You will get paid on the "Next settlement date."

Do Royal Mail sometimes only deliver every second day?

Resolved Question

Do Royal Mail sometimes only deliver every second day?

I moved house a few months ago and I noticed something strange goes on with the post deliveries here. We rarely get mail delivered 2 days in a row. Sometimes we will even have no mail for 2 days and then receive a big bundle all at once on the 3rd day! I know it could just be that we there is no mail for us but I live in a building with 5 other flats and a communal mailbox, I don't believe that for up to 2 days in a row not one of the flats has a piece of mail needing delivered, especially when I see how much mail there is on a day when the postman has been here.

So, do Royal Mail sometimes deliver every second day? Is this an official procedure?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

I am a postman and No there is no Official procedure that allows this. in fact its against the law. Postal Act 2000 I think.

RM have a Universal Service Obligation written into law that they must provide 1 delivery to every address in the UK every working day (Mon - Sat) and I collection from every post box and post office and other recognised collection points.

There are 3 options available to you.

1. Call the Local Delivery Office and ask to speak to a manager or ask for one to call you back and then explain the situation.

2. Call the Customer Care line on 08457 740 740 (8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. 8am - 1pm on Saturdays) and explain it to them - the local Delivery Office Manager has too respond to their query as its recorded in a central location. However, it is an unfriendly service with lots of options to choose.

3. Contact Postwatch and complain to them - although to be fair they will ask you to exhaust the formal RM complaints procedure first.

I think I know what is happening and it may be down to lack of staff but I am just guessing as I don't know ehere your are based.

Good luck

What do I say in a job interview Is lying good?

Resolved Question

What do I say in a job interview Is lying good?

ok so basically i have this really important interview tomorrow for a company i really want to work for.

I have been called in for a informal interview but i think its the first hurdle to the job position. Thing is i was fired at my last job and i dont expect my old managers to give a good reference.

I didnt meet targets in my last job but I know my potential new employer will ask "why did you leave your last job 4 months ago?".

I cant say "well i was fired for not meeting targets" and i cant say i left because they will probably ask why and i cant say i was "bored with the job" and plus it doesnt reflect well that i didnt find anything sooner or get another job before "leaving".

should i just be honest and say i was fired? If they call my last employer can they say i was fired? Or say bad things about me?

The job i had before last were much better and i stayed with them for 4 years so i suppose i could bring that up. Just my last job is like a black mark against my work history :(

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

It's not good to lie but I would suggest that you don't give anymore than what they ask for. In other words don't offer any information let them ask the questions. You could leave out your last job but then you have to come up with a reason for the time between jobs. Which you could just say that you quit your last job because you needed a break for awhile or that you were going to go to school but then changed your mind for a lack of funds. But if you have all ready put your last job on your application then you will not be able to get away with not telling them about it because they will ask why you left. If you get caught in a lie it is not a good thing. I hope this will help. Good luck!

Testifying in favour of your employer or boss in a Tribunal case, to what extent will you do this against a ..?

Resolved Question

Testifying in favour of your employer or boss in a Tribunal case, to what extent will you do this against a ..?

current or former collegue who has brought an action/case against your employer/boss? To what extent would you be prepared to lie in order to keep your own job or prevent victimisation of yourself?

Additional Details

Normally testimony by a collegue against a current or former colleage in tribunals is dealt with through the ordinary rules of evidence and procedure. Hence any embellishment of facts has to be tested through cross examinations. However cross examination is also subject to variables such as the ability of the cross examiner, how good the witness is in lieing or telling the truth etc.

Should there be a rule that tribunal judges should automatically be slow in making a negative inference against the claimant based on evidence given against him/her by other employees who may be scared in testifying against the employer.

I know that this would have to be coupled with a lot of judicial discretion depending on the circumstances, for example: if an employee is caugt red handed stealing by fellow employees, then it is obvious and factual that this is what the testimony would be, but in victimisation and discrimination cases, where the incidents are not so cut and dry?

I would not lie in order to protect the company - irrespective of the consequences.......if they are prepared to lie to get rid of an employee - who is next - YOU, possibly.....

If you lie - they will have you forever in their control - think about it

  • Lie your butt off. Testifying against your employer is not a good strategy for keeping your job in any economy, much less one that is as bad as ours is now.

This is a really bad time to be unemployed. Forget what is the "right" thing to do and lie in favor of your employer, if you have to. But if you have to lie to protect the company, it's time to start actively hunting for a new job. Jump ship at the first opportunity.
  • if someone has done something wrong then they have no one to blame but themselves and if tetsifying is the way to get them punished then id have no sort of doubts about it.

however if the reverse is true and the company has done something wrong then i would have no doubts about testifying against them either. however i would liase with an outside agency and make my company aware that i have the power of the law on my side and if my life is being made unbearable they WILL be right back in court again.

Who owns the right to a partnership name after it has dissolved?

Resolved Question

Who owns the right to a partnership name after it has dissolved?

I was in a business partnership, although there was no partnership agreement in writing. We ceased the partnership, and now my former partner is using our name in conjunction with their new business in the same field. Is this allowed? I was using the name before our partnership if this makes any difference.

whoever registered the name, thats who it belongs to. if you did it, you can seek legal advice on getting him to cease, if not, you snooze you lose

You need to think about the type of customer service YOU would like to receive. I recently went to Sainsburys on a busy Saturday afternoon and whilst crossing from one aisle to another I must have walked in front of the manager and a female co-worker. Normally i apologise for things like this and I would have done this time, only before I could even turn round to speak they started discussing "the thing that annoys them most about working in this job..." which, it turns out is "people walking in front of them" I found this to be absolutely disgusting customer care - one thing you need to know is that without the customers to care for you don't have a job.

  • You would need a knowledge of the store's policies regarding whatever area you would be assigned to (such as return policy, how to use the register, etc.). You should probably also know where things are located within the store. What you need to know will vary by company (customer service for a construction company would probably be very different than customer service for Wal-Mart, even though the skills needed (ability to communicate, etc.), would be similar).

What should be done to the men who destroyed the Rover Motor Company?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I'd like to see them smeared in honey and staked out naked over a soldier ants nest. Unfortunately they haven't broken any laws and the worst that can happen to them is that they are disqualified from being company directors - until they appeal.

  • what should be done to them? You do realize it was the goverment who raised the taxes so rover couldent pay in the recession then the goverment took rover away and sold it to the chinese wasent it?

So i say we need for terrarists or even muslims running the place maybe it will be less corrupt or better yet just get the mafia to run things!
  • Rover had been going down the tubes for years... sad, but true. Blame these specific guys if you like but its not all down to them.
  • What?? All the unionists in the 1960/70's who destroyed the reputation of BMC/British Leyland etc etc?
  • he should have his millions confiscated to pay towards the staff redundancies......then have him whipped with birch twigs and stinging nettles rubbed in his wounds........is this enough for u?
  • castrated
  • If I answer that question honestly, I'll probably get thrown in jail...
