Ebay selling HELP me plz?

Resolved Question

Ebay selling HELP me plz?

Basically my dad works alot and makes ok money my mum is a full time house wife and i would like her to make her own business using ebay could you guys give me some advice like
-What to sell
-How to sell it
-Where to buy packaging
also anything else will me apreciated

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

What to sell? Well, anything that you've got in a good condition that you don't really use. DVD's, bikes, cushions, clothes (in bundles..i.e together all for girls or something).
And about how to sell it - well, look up on eBay how other people have advertised the same kind of thing your selling and the price they're doing it for. Try and do it like them but better. And be sophisticated...don't be desperate like LOOK HERE! Try and be different in your speaking style rather than AMAZING! ACTUALLY WORKS! Say "This item is amazing quality and it works incredibly well."
Y'no? :D
and packaging, you can get from your local post office.

  • you can sell anything really! clothes are the best people always buy them i`m sure your mom would have lots of old clothing she no longer wants. I have even sold my broken ipod! Old phones are good too! start off by selling small things like old cds and stuff so you get used to it.

First of all sign up. then in the top right corner of the screen, there is a sell button. Click on sell an item under it and follow the instructions. its sooo easy! once you have done that, go on my ebay (also in the top right corner) and go on active selling. Your listing will come up and you can see how many people have bidded! (if they have) .

(if you go on the advanced selling choice at the start, you can see how many people have looked at your item, and there are more choices so you are more likely to sell! but it does take alot longer than the basic one! )

you can get postage and packaging from the post office or even buy it on ebay!!

Ooh and you will need to sign up to paypal so all the money you make will go straight to your bank account! www.paypal.com

Good luck! this is exactly what i did and i have earned over £100 in months! its also really fun!

Formal and informal structures in an organisation ?

Resolved Question

Formal and informal structures in an organisation ?

How can formal and informal structures of an organisation influence relationships within the organisation ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

The informal structure has more influence than the formal one. In the end organizations are always at the mercy of the goodwill of its employees. With employee support bad policies can succeed but without their support the best policies will fail.

  • My experience with large manufacturing and engineering organizations are that they need and want a very formal organization structure. The employees want to know exactly who is the boss and who can tell them what to do.

Do Royal Mail still deliver packages during these weather conditions? I'm waiting for a game to arrive from Play.com. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi, our Postman did deliver a parcel yesterday, saying he was not delivering 'post' only special deliveries. The Postman who lives opposite my Mum has not been into work for the past few days. So I think it will really depend on where you live and what the roads are like in your area.

They change over time.

1. Type in English, not some subverted txt-spk gibberish.
2. Typing in ALL CAPS is rude, as it is the same as shouting.
3. Careful when you hit the "Send" button on emails. Read it twice. Then read it again. Is the recipient correct? Did you really mean to "Reply to all..."?

Does the location affect Royal Mail delivery speeds?

Does the location affect Royal Mail delivery speeds?

Okay, I ordered something from eBay, and the seller is in the same city as me. Royal Mail's website says I should expect it in 3 days, should I expect it earlier?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Depends if the main 'hub' that the item is routed through is in the same city or not. It probably will be so you may get it sooner.

  • It depends on the delivery service type (Second, First Class or Special Delivery). Most of the time locations do not play an important role in postage time as mails/parcels are transported by airplanes through the country.

However, since you and the seller are in the same city, you can expect it to arrive earlier (probably 1 day earlier I guess).

    Hope this helps.

  • 3 days is the standard time that Royal Mail allows for first class deliveries, whether they're in the same town or opposite ends of the country. If you have a major sorting office in your city and because it's coming from the same city, you may receive it sooner.

  • No. I would 3 days is lot better. I believe it take more due to royal mail system. Even though in same city the item Still has to go in normal sorting Centre and then redirect back to a destination city.

What better and safer to trade to build capital to start a business; CFDs, spread betting, options or stocks?

Resolved Question

What better and safer to trade to build capital to start a business; CFDs, spread betting, options or stocks?

I am just wondering, I am considering starting an Internet based business but don't have sufficient funds nor am I a programmer/desiger, so I want to pay someone to not only make my projects but to run the server management for me. I have £3,000 cash in savings, and I want to know which investment vehicle would be best out of options trading, i.e. call & puts, spread betting, CFDs or to just buy the stocks directly to raise the funds, say, £50-100k? Please help/advise. Thanks.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

you have just £3,000 cash in savings?? well, at least look at the bright side you don't have debt like most UK/USA citizens. As for options, spread betting or CFDs these are all leveraged trading products and you really need some £10,000 to stand a chance to turn it into £50k-100k (and even then you would have to get a good dose of luck as turning 10k into 50k is by no means a simple feat and you will need to have a trading system which works)

  • In short, the only way 3k can turn 50k is through high leveraged trading, in other words, GAMBLING. You could lose ALL your 3k VERY EASILY. Is that what you are willing to risk?

Question about sending letter using Royal Mail Air Mail Service at Post Office?

I went to post office to post a letter and the total was £1.21 to netherlands from uk weighing 31 grams. It showed on weighing scale as 31 grams but when i came home it showed 1 gram on receipt which the post office gave me. And the staff applied a white sticky label which he printed from his computer not those traditional stamp. So is it fine as long as there is more than enough postage value on the letter or does it have to show accurate weight value on the white sticky label.

Don't worry, the accurate price is printed on the white label. It'll be fine.

They don't normally exagerate the delivery date, I have found them to be very accurate. The great thing about Dell is not only are their products very good, they are also custom made.. add a little bit of this, add that, remove that etc. I would call customer services just to confirm and track the order though.

He also said that if I wanted to leave they wouldn't have any problems. One month later the company started to employ more people but again no salary increase. Amazon Anti-scam methods? / selling items that are a email of information not a real object...?

Resolved Question

Amazon Anti-scam methods? / selling items that are a email of information not a real object...?

hey, im new to the whole amazon buying/selling business, and i was wondering:

1.) Is it fine to sell stuff on amazon that isnt a physical object? like the customer would be purchasing information.

for example i was wondering could i sell xbox live gold membership codes, where once they had purchased the item and i had received the payment, i would just email them the code for them to enter on xbox live. would be this be ok?

2.) how would i avoid scammers? for example those people who say they never received their item when they did, considering i wouldnt be sending them anything in the post, would be via email, how could i track or have a record of me sending the email to them so they couldnt say they didnt receive it.

3.) what would i do if they said the xbox live code didnt work? which wouldnt happen considering i would not sell dodgy goods, they would be legitimate codes straight from microsoft, would i have to refund them? or how could i catch them out about lying? because i was lose alot of money if i had to refund them their money...

need some advice and information on this, before i make a move on actually going into this business economy on amazon.

- Michael

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I'm not sure you can legally resell Xbox Live codes. The terms of service require that the individual user register for the service at xbox.com, be 18 years of age or older, that only the registered individual can use the account, and that you cannot resell or redistribute the service. So regardless of how this business model could work logistically on Amazon, how exactly do you think you could legally resell the codes?

State how poor customer service can have an impact on the reputation an organisation?

Resolved Question

State how poor customer service can have an impact on the reputation an organisation?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Customer service is all about how people perceive your company based how you act towards them.

When you call a company on the phone, and someone answers, that person is expected to be
courteous
professional
knowledgable enough to direct your phone call to the right person the first time.
to be able to help you with your question

All of the things that this person does and says while they are talking to you is going to have a direct impact on how you perceive the whole company.

If the person was a jerk to you and not very helpful, then you are going to think that everyone else in the company is a jerk, and you wont want to do business with that company again.

Customer Service has everything to do with how you serve the customer

Customer service is what many companies reputation is built on.

  • Well for me I order from a well known company online and it took them over 4 months to deliver my goods. When I rang customer services I kept being passed from one department to the other and every time I had to re say my reference number and details. I have never used them again as there incapable of olving any complaint or problem. If a company has poor customer service that has no intention in trying to resolve the situation then I am not interested in purchasing or using there service. I want to know that there is a team in place willing to help. I don't pay cash up front and then sit back and hope I receive my goods. It shouldn't be a 50/50% chance that customer services will help me.
  • Customer service is the first impression customers get of a company. If a customer has a bad experience with customer service, that will reflect on the entire company. Most people will think that the entire company is bad (or good) based on how they are treated in customer service.
  • I ordered some stuff from an internet company a few years back. It took them a month to finally process my order after many phone calls and emails. They finally got it shipped and didn't give me a discount or anything. They said it was in stock and waiting to be shipped the first two weeks and then they said it was out of stock. Either way, after I got my stuff, I never even went back to their website. I don't do business with them at all and I tell others to stay clear of them as well.

BA sets seat charges... what utter nonsense!?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/82742…

I have just read that BA are introducing seat charges for their customers from 7th October. In short, this means that people travelling on a short haul flight will have to pay up to £10, and up to £60 for a long haul business class flight.

As a long time BA customer I feel that BA have let customers down. This is a completely non-sensical policy. Basically we have to ay a surcharge to choose to sit on a plane. I am so angry by this latest action from a struggling airline. Willie Walsh needs to be sacked. They are no better than Ryanair. What next, a charge for food on the plane. Is BA wanting to become a budget airline? I will be travelling on other airlies in future. Goodbye BA.

Does anyone know how Amazon.co.uk can estimate delivery?

Hi All,

Does anyone know what javascript or something similar Amazon.co.uk uses to estimate delivery?

For example, it says ''Get this item next day if you order in the next 1 hour''. What that mechanism called?

Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

For Java code, ask in Computers ..

The business answer is, the Postal service (eg Parcel Force etc) guarantees Next Day delivery if you get the items to the Post Office / Depot / collection point by (typically) 3pm and pay extra (or 1st Class ...) ... Amazon will know how long it takes their staff to locate and pack the books and the last time each day (when packages are collected from their warehouse) that guarantees Next day delivery.

You are a new manager and your duty manager wants you to look after your former department but you need to ...?

Resolved Question

You are a new manager and your duty manager wants you to look after your former department but you need to ...?

You are a trainee manager and you have been asked by the duty manager to look after your old department for two weeks, whilst your old department manager is on holiday. You have also been asked by your human resources manager to ensure that you complete your development program for the trainee management scheme. You are very good friends with everyone in your department.
Question (1): What is the best course of action to take first?
Question (2): What is the worst course of action to take first?
Kindly chose from the options below:
a) agree to look after the department.
b) apologise to the duty manager; explain that you need to concentrate on your development.
c) do one week in your old department and one week on your development plan.
d) ask to swap with another department manager; work in their department for one week instead; work on your development plan for one week.

Thank you very much for your responds.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

You need to get the HR and duty managers together to discuss how the cover period will fit within your development or whether it will extend your development period... it could segue nicely and it isnt an either/or situation necessarily.

Not sure this is your decision to make, speak to them both together. You can't just decide to cover the position for some of the time and then do what you feel is good... doesnt work like that.

The worst course of action is to do something without consulting anyone else and to leave things hanging. The best course of action is to act responsibly and maturely to ensure the department is covered and that, hopefully, that effort can be reflected in your development.

  • None of the above.

I would ask for a meeting with the human resources manager and the duty manager.
In the meeting I would suggest that the human resources delay the development program for the two weeks while you help out the old department.
If this was a good run business this problem would not have occurred in the first place as there would have been communication between the managers.
It was the duty managers responsibility to check with your new human resources manager before taking you off the job to cover for someones holiday.
This will ensure that everyone is happy and that you come out smelling of roses.

Why have companies stopped promotions and pay rises?

Resolved Question

Why have companies stopped promotions and pay rises?

I know that it is down the credit crisis, but how does it actually help the company?
Surely people should only be promoted for the company benefit anyway.

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

When the economy is in a slump, a company usually backs away from type of spending. Speculation from economists keep companies from making any moves because they could find themselves laying-off, downsizing, and even closing their doors. Promotions and pay "raises" come when production is high not low.

You probably need a lawyer there.

Generally, the rule is that officers should not self-deal when they have a conflict of interest unless the deal is approved by a majority of board members without a conflict of interest, or if it is ratified by the majority of share's holders. The safest way to do that would just be to get the other two directors to approve it. Otherwise, you could force it by vote of your shares, but you would definitely need a lawyer in that contingency.

In the UK, the "statutory sector" usually refers to that part of the workforce which is employed by organisations which exist by law, or provide services required by law. This includes the civil service, non-departmental public bodies (so-called "quangos"), and local councils and all the services they provide from electoral administration to social services. The NHS is also part of the statutory sector.
