Does the location affect Royal Mail delivery speeds?

Resolved Question

Does the location affect Royal Mail delivery speeds?

Okay, I ordered something from eBay, and the seller is in the same city as me. Royal Mail's website says I should expect it in 3 days, should I expect it earlier?

Depends if the main 'hub' that the item is routed through is in the same city or not. It probably will be so you may get it sooner.

  • It depends on the delivery service type (Second, First Class or Special Delivery). Most of the time locations do not play an important role in postage time as mails/parcels are transported by airplanes through the country.

However, since you and the seller are in the same city, you can expect it to arrive earlier (probably 1 day earlier I guess).

    Hope this helps.

  • 3 days is the standard time that Royal Mail allows for first class deliveries, whether they're in the same town or opposite ends of the country. If you have a major sorting office in your city and because it's coming from the same city, you may receive it sooner.

  • No. I would 3 days is lot better. I believe it take more due to royal mail system. Even though in same city the item Still has to go in normal sorting Centre and then redirect back to a destination city.
